Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Bill - BSL version

Closed 15 Aug 2025

Opened 30 Jul 2025

Overview

The Children (Care, Care Experience and Services Planning) (Scotland) Bill is a draft law which is being considered by the Education, Children and Young People Committee at the Scottish Parliament.

The Committee wants to understand what individuals with care experience (children, young people and adults), and those supporting them, think of the draft law.

About this call for views

The Committee is not asking you to share your own care story. Members of the Committee know that care experienced people have been asked to do so many times. Instead, we are looking for your views on the changes set out in this draft law.

Your responses will be published on the Scottish Parliament’s website. This is important as it helps other people understand the feedback on the draft law the Committee has received.

When you are responding, please be careful not to mention any names or details of other people (e.g. other family members). If you do this, we may need to ask you to remove this information before we publish your responses.

Read more background information on the Bill’s webpage - please note that this is in English only.

How to contribute

Please answer the call for views by completing the submission form below.

You do not have to answer every question.

The call for views closes on 15 August 2025 at 11.59pm.

If you would rather respond anonymously (not provide your name), you can do so by ticking the box on the "About you" page.

In the survey you can choose to write your answers in the text boxes, or you can send a BSL video with your response to ecyp.committee@parliament.scot

If you are responding using a BSL video, please use a file transfer service such as WeTransfer, or you can upload your video on YouTube and share it as a private link.

Please state clearly which question numbers you are referring to in your video.

If you send us a BSL video, we will translate it into written English. Only the translation will then be published on our website, not the original video, so your image will not be made public.

Your response will be published on the Scottish Parliament website in English, along with your name, unless you have ticked the box to make your submission anonymous.

If you have any questions about this call for views, please email info@parliament.scot or call 0800 092 7500. To contact through BSL, you can call the same number through the Contact Scotland BSL video relay service: contactscotland-bsl.org.
