Training for new and returning councillors 

The Scottish Parliament’s Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee has been undertaking work to understand what are the barriers to local elected office. 

The Committee will now pause this work until after the local government elections. 

In the meantime, the Committee is keen to know what preparations are being made by local authorities for training and support for new and returning councillors. 

If you are organising training and support to what extent has this been shaped by the experience of councillors in this session and what scope will there be to tailor training to meet the needs of the new intake of councillors?
