Aside from the events I organise through The Glasgow Barons, I have recently attended musical events at: Park Bar, Govan & Linthouse Parish Church, Clyde Community Hall, Kinning Park Complex, as a resident. All are in walking distance. The total offering is reasonable for an essentially residential area, but badly needed people-centred regeneration and a rebuilding of community cohesion post-pandemic, could allow for more. We have some derelict buildings which could be repurposed for community cultural use, but are being held by private owners. This is a barrier in the community's eyes.

The Govan Music Festival ended last week. 6 events over 5 days.
What support has there been in place? Basic infrastructure to deliver a community music festival across several genres and demographics exists, and support from such charities as Sunny Govan FM, Gilded Lily CIC, as well as local service providers such as The Green Room for PA requirements is essential to capture the richness and profile local talent well.
Event production isn't as frequent as north of the Clyde, and so we have to work closely and intensively with some local venues and artists to keep things on track. The fruits of this year's festival were planted with the charity's inception in 2017. Since then, trust, versatility and tenacity have been carefully and steadily built up to allow for a wide range of community members to feel safe, free to express themselves and included. Detailed local knowledge by the Artistic Director, who lives within walking distance of all venues, has been crucial.
