I've only had one experience of social care and that was when my Redacted textson was charged with a crime , he had to visit social workers on a regular basis and do community service . The two female social workers involved with my son were power driven people , they seemed to enjoy putting my son down and having power over his life . Redacted text. The were rude , offensive and threatened my son , telling him " someone like you will go to jail and people like you in jail get stabbed " At this point my son had already completely turned his life around and was trying to get through doing his community service and put this all behind him , even though he had been admitted to hospital and was put in intensive care with seizures . He then moved back to Redacted text and had another seizure which resulted in intensive care , they refused to move him back into the care of Redacted text social work . He does not drive because of the seizures and was made to travel by two different buses which is over a 3 hour journey Redacted text. After they were asking him to be there early in the morning which was impossible due to bus times and journey times , they sent him a warning , even though he had explained the situation . We had to get involved as we felt at this point he was a fragile adult and was becoming very depressed due to his treatment of these two individuals. We phoned and tried to help our son and was met with the same superior attitude and inflexibility from these two very unpleasant individuals. They refused to be accommodating and move my son back to Redacted text. We had no choice other than to run him to each meeting , even though my husband had had blood clots removed from his legs due to an accident and had open wounds to relieve pressure , this caused him great pain . The whole experience for my son was humiliating and very stressful . They were an incompetent pair , which got his address wrong , which nearly got him imprisoned , after his move , they got his address wrong again , they were rude , inflexible and unpleasant . My own experience with them left me having to placate a very rude and totally unsuited to the job woman on the phone who was insisting she was going to send my son to court because his bus was 30 mins late , baring in mind the usual journey wa over 3 hours . Both my husband and myself found them to be rude , inflexable , egotistical woman . I thank goodness Redacted texthad us for support and despair for any young people in the same position that dont have a family to support them as it would seem to me impossible for young adults to get out of the cycle of court ,and soical workers once in . Disgusted with the unempatic treatment of my son and the contempt clearing exhibited by these two "care" workers for myself ,husband and son . They way they treated him was as if he was a murderer of children instead of a silly teenage crime . Despicable.

Only employ people who are not career people but caring , empathic people and make the whole system more flexible, be able to compromise in situations like hospital visits , illness and depression without threatening to send people to court . Put into place money for young adults who need to travel to social work appointments, before they get on a bus or train , a travel pass would be a good idea ,and again flexibly to relise not everyone can travel inactive a car and public transport can be late . All meeting with social work and young adults should be recorded or with a neutral person sotting in to make sure a young adult is treated fairly , without bullying and threats .

Regular meeting for ideas and thoughts and a proper complaints system . When we tried to complain we could not get above these two soical workers head and was repeatedly put back on to them when we tried to phone
How should integration authorities commission and procure social care to ensure it is person-centred?

Care about the person, be flexible and understanding of the person's circumstances. Tighten up the admin , for example we recieved a letter with an appointment day and time , two days after the appointment which resulted with a warning , that they refused to take off and making an address mistake twice which again resulted in a warning and then subsequent court appearance. Do not send people to court for failing to attend appointments if they have been in a coma in intensive care
